Frogger is an arcade game that was introduced in 1981 and found its way to immense popularity among arcade game enthusiasts. Developed by Konami, a Japanese company, and distributed by Sega/Gremlin, Frogger is considered to be a classic form the golden age of arcade games The prime objective of Frogger lies in directing the frogs to their homes, one at a time. The trick is to make sure that the frogs reach their homes safely, avoiding cars and a river filled with hazards.

Game play
A player starts a game with three, five or even seven frog lives. The player must guide a frog starting at the bottom portion of the screen, all the way to the top of the screen. The lower of the game is a road filled with motor vehicles. The vehicle includes trucks, cars, dune buggies, buses, bulldozers, taxis, vans as well as bicycles and motorcycles. They all travel along in a horizontal fashion, from left to right and right to left. The middle is a median between the road and the upper half of the game. The upper half is a river containing logs, turtles and crocodiles also moving horizontally. At the games very top portion, the frog homes can be spotted. Each of the levels in Frogger is timed, and the player has to act swiftly for finishing the levels before time runs out. A skilled players score can benefit from bonus points that come along the way, they can opt for escorting a lady frog or catching bugs. A Joystick comes as the only player control and is used for navigating the frog. A push in a specific direction makes the frog hop once in that direction. After safely guiding the frog across the road, onto the median, the player then has to move on logs as well as the backs of turtles to get across the river. The player should exercise caution in avoiding snakes, crocodiles and otters found in the river. By guiding the five frogs to their homes, the player has is given another level, which is made harder than the previous with more and faster vehicles, a faster river current and more hazards. After going through five levels, the game gets easier for a brief period, and gets harder again over the next five levels

Loosing a Life
There are several ways that might result in the loss of a life in Frogger and they include jumping into the water belonging, being run over by road vehicles, colliding with otters, snakes or running into the jaws of a crocodile spotted in the river. There are other ways that lead to a loss of life in Frogger, like the staying too long on diving turtles, drifting on the river off the side of the screen, jumping into a frog home that already has an occupant, jumping into the bushes along the side portions of a home, and finding the time running out before guiding a frog to its home.
